There is 1\" between the bottom and top. 1\" x 1\" wood rods fill in the sides, back and part of the front of the cassette. The center of the table contains 1\/2\" thick circles to form the tape spokes and the tape reels in the center. These are secured in place. The tabe is built around them. The top is 3\/4\" plywood with 1\/4\" border, lable and cassette tops. The lable can be left off, or changed to be your favorite song. Please specify when ordering. The table comes with a professionally cut 1\/4\" piece of glass over the top of the cassette. The \"window\" showing the tape reels has 1\/8\" plexiglass under the border. The open holes under the table are covered with plexiglass as well.The legs screw into pre-installed plates. Every piece is coated and sealed with polyurethane. NOTE: The legs shown are NOT the standard legs. The legs will be wood 1.5\" x 1.5\".  The wood stain option is as pictured.
